Shipbreaking pictures by Edward Burtynsky. I find most gigantic things made of metal quite fascinating and faintly terrifying, but ships in particular, and ships being taken apart with only hammers and crowbars even more. There are more on his webiste here. And pictures of the little bits these end up in in the ship recycling section. (There is also a quite nice photo essay by Brendan Corr on shipbreaking here.) I think all of the Burtynsky stuff is extraordinary, but along with the ships, I'm really taken with the quarries:
